Geography of Canada
This unit is an inquiry based unit! Inquiry-based learning refers to a transformation of the traditional classroom. This form of learning enhances comprehension, allows children to take ownership of their learning, and increases their engagement with the content.
This inquiry-based unit covers Grade 4: Social Studies: Unit 1: Geography of Canada
In this unit, children will explore the physical geography of Manitoba and Canada including the political boundaries. Children will also study Canada’s geographic regions. Learning about Canada’s physical geography will help students develop a sense of location and belonging, as well, to understand their place and the place of others in Manitoba and Canada.
Children will learn by;

- reading maps and using a globe
- using cardinal directions
- labelling and colouring maps
- sketching pictures
- developing new vocabulary
- reading and listening to stories

- observing/analyzing visual images
