This unit is an inquiry based unit! Inquiry-based learning refers to a transformation of the traditional classroom. This form of learning enhances comprehension, allows children to take ownership of their learning, and increases their engagement with the content.
This inquiry-based unit covers Grade 4: Social Studies: Unit 5: Canada's North.
In this unit, children will explore the Northwest Territories, one of Canada’s three northern territories, and learn about its physical geography and the people who live there. They will also learn about the important contributions of northern Indigenous people to Canada and how the North is a vital part of Canada. Learning about the North will help children to develop a sense of belonging and understand their place in Manitoba, Canada, and the place of others.
