This unit is an inquiry based unit! Inquiry-based learning refers to a transformation of the traditional classroom. This form of learning enhances comprehension, allows children to take ownership of their learning, and increases their engagement with the content.

This inquiry-based unit ties into Grade 4: Social Studies: Unit 5: Canada's North.

Children will learn all about inuksuit, what they are, why they are built, what their purposes are, and why they are important Canadian symbols. Learning about inuksuit will help children to understand Canada’s northern region and the people who live there as well as better understand Canadian culture.
